How to Set Up a USB Bootable BIOS?

When you're doing some computer maintenance or installing a new system, you might need to boot your computer from a USB flash drive. The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) acts like a middleman between your hardware and operating system, letting you set up USB boot options. Here are some easy ways to get your BIOS ready for booting from a USB drive.

**Method 1: Setting It Up Through the BIOS Main Interface**

✅  **Plug in Your USB Drive**: First things first, stick that pre-made bootable USB into one of the computer's USB ports.

✅  **Enter the BIOS**: Restart your computer and hit either the Delete key, F2 key, F1 key, F10 key, or Esc key (it depends on what brand and model you've got) while it's starting up to get into the BIOS settings.

✅  **Find Boot Options**: Once you're in the BIOS interface, use your arrow keys to navigate over to the "Advanced" or "Boot" tab where you'll find all those boot option settings.

✅  **Set Your USB as First Boot Option**: Look for something like "USB-HDD" or another similar option in there and use "+" or "-" keys to move it up so it's at the top of the list as your first choice for booting.

✅  **Save Changes and Exit**: After you've made those changes, just press F10 to save everything and exit out of BIOS. Your computer will restart now and should kick off from that USB drive!

**Method 2: Choosing From Startup Device Menu**

✅  **Insert Your USB Drive Again**: Just like before—plug that bootable USB into one of your computer's ports.

✅  **Restart Your Computer Again**: Go ahead and restart it again; this time press specific shortcut keys (like F12 or Esc) during startup until you see that menu pop up for choosing which device to start from.

✅  **Select USB Boot Option**: In this menu, use those arrow keys again to highlight the option labeled "USB" (you'll usually see it marked clearly), then hit Enter to confirm!

✅  * * Getting Your Computer Started * *: Your computer will boot from the USB drive and take you to the right system installation or maintenance screen.

**Method 3: Setting Up for Specific Brands of Computers**

Different brands have their own BIOS settings. For instance, if you've got a Lenovo, you can usually hit the F12 key when it starts up to bring up the boot options menu and choose your USB flash drive as the boot device. If you're using an MSI motherboard, you'll probably need to go into BIOS and set "1st boot device" to be your USB drive.

Things to Keep in Mind

✅  Before diving into BIOS setup, make sure you've got a working USB bootable drive ready.

✅  Different brands and models might use different keys to get into BIOS settings, so check what works for yours.

✅  Be careful while setting things up; try not to accidentally change other important BIOS settings!

And that's how you can easily set up your PC to boot from a USB!
