How to Fix a Virus on a USB Flash Drive?

Don't open or try to remove the USB drive if it gets infected with a virus. Trust me, things can get messy fast, and you could end up losing important stuff.

Here are some common situations that your USB flash drive might be infected:

           1. When you double-click the disk icon, nothing happens—you just can't access it.

           2. If you right-click on it and see options like AUTO or others popping up automatically, that's not good. During autoplay, if weird programs show up and files seem hidden? Yep, that's a virus at work.

           3. All your folders have vanished! You might think you've accidentally formatted the USB drive.

           4. The file icons on your USB sticks look like program files now—definitely suspicious!

           5. You can't copy-paste anything from it or even open files? That's another red flag.

           6. There's an exe folder showing up on the drive—exe usually means it's running some kind of program.

If any of this sounds familiar, then your USB is likely infected with a virus. If you don't deal with it quickly, not only could you lose data from the drive but also put your computer at risk! So let's clean that thing up ASAP!

How to Fix

**Step 1:** First, plug in the USB to your computer but don't just click on it directly; instead go to "My Computer." This way, we avoid triggering any viruses that could harm your system.

**Step 2:** Next up, find "Tools- Folder Options- View" in My Computer's menu bar. Look for "Show all files and folders" under view settings and make sure to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."

**Step 3:** Finally, hit "Start" then "Run" from the taskbar; type in "regedit" there to open the registry editor. Click on "Edit Find," type in "rose.exe," hit enter—and delete all those shell subkeys inside so we can wipe out those pesky key values too!

Also remember: keep updating those security patches for your system and make sure your antivirus software is current! Do not copy files from unknown sources and do not use your USB drive on public computers without permission.
